The rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Mrs Francisca Nwafulugo, has promised to introduce some positive changes and innovations in the institution.
The rector who spoke during a party to unveil her action plans for the institution said that she will do everything within her, in collaboration with the staff to lift Okoppoly to greater height.
She assured that with God on her side, the institution will witness great leap under her leadership.
The rector, who is the first female rector of polytechnic, further said she will rededicate the school to God to appropriately guide her to success.
According to her, it is only when the community resolves to connect to God’s unending grace, with unabated hard work, determination and focus, it would achieve positive results.
“My administration will first of all rededicate Federal Polytechnic Oko to God. This is because no one can do much without the Creator of the universe that enables one to make any achievement. God is the Owner and Sustainer of life. He is the author of wisdom and no one can ascend to any throne/leadership position unless it comes from our Creator,” she said.
According to her, she promised to work towards integrated educational structure that would provide quality education to students in an excellent academic environment which enhances quality research to address problems facing humanity.
She also gave assurance that she would be working towards motivating staff to produce students filled with patriotism, aspiration, global vision, innovative spirit and create a conducive academic ambience for effective teaching, learning.
According to Nwafulugo, she will be working towards producing students who will be found truly worthy in learning and character to meet the challenges of the global village in science, technology, innovations, and creativity.
The rector also promised to prioritize on staff and students welfare, especially staff promotions and proper placement as well as timely payment of salaries.
Nwafulugo said that she will enhance a practice that would bridge the gap between theory and practice by creating collaboration with industries and parastatals.
The rector further promised to resuscitate and make functional equipment presently not in use in the institution with the help of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
