The Oredo local government leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted Governor Godwin Obaseki as their sole candidate for the 2020 governorship election in the state.
A statement signed after an enlarged meeting of the party by the chairman and secretary of the Oredo local government APC, Godwin Alabi and Magdalene Isekhure respectively, said the adoption became necessary in view of the pace of development in different sectors in the state.
“We are convinced that the only way to sustain the current rapid growth in the state is to ensure that governor Obaseki continues as governor for another four years.
“Obaseki has made us proud as Edo people. Currently, among the states in the federation, Edo state stands out in all development spheres, heads and shoulders above states that are far more privileged than Edo in terms of federal allocation and internally generated revenue,” they stated.
The statement noted that the reward for hard work is more work, urging Obaseki to heed the call to take the responsibility of governing the for another four years beginning from 2020.
“We assured that as leaders of the party in Oredo, of our readiness to pull our resources together to ensure that not only Obaseki flies the party’s flag but also emerged as governor for a second term in the forthcoming gubernatorial election,” they added.
They however commended the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, over the victory of the party during the 2019 presidential election.
