Ibadan man climbs mast, then jumps to death

An unidentified man jumped to his death from a mast belonging to a commercial  bank at Eluwere junction along Sango-UI road in Ibadan, sparking confusion with his death.

A witness Tosin Alabi recounted the incident.

“He came in through the back fence of the bank and climbed the mast, he used almost 30 minutes before he eventually fell off on the roof of the bank”.

A friend of the deceased who claimed anonymity said that his friend was not a mad person as some people insinuated, adding that the deceased was his close friend and what happened to him was not ordinary.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Alaba said that her son was not mad, noting that what made him to kill himself was strange.

“We came from vigil and after we finished eating our breakfast, we started looking for him unknown to us that he has come her to kill himself. My son is not mad as some people insinuated but I don’t understand why he killed himself “.

Police said the bank called it and fire service for rescue, but the man was later confirmed dead, according to police spokesman SP Gbenga Fadeyi.

Fadeyi noted that the body has been deposited at  Adeoyo Hospital for an autopsy.
