The Provost of Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze in Anambra state, Dr. Mrs. Tessy Okoli has frown at the cohabitation of female and male students in school, especially off-campus.
The provost who expressed worry on the development, made the statement at the weekend, while admitting fresh students during the college’s matriculation ceremony.
According to the Provost, it is a sad development where young ladies live together with male students in off-campus residential areas.
“We must put a stop to cohabitation of male and female students, since it encourages immorality and constitutes a distraction to academic work,” she said.
She said the college’s management has built good and spacious hostel accommodations for students on campus with adequate security.
“The college management recently completed the installation of solar-powered street lights on main campus to encourage night time activities for our students living on campus,” she said.
The provost pleaded with students, especially freshers to live in school hostels where their security is guaranteed.
“I urged parents to encourage their children to live in school hostels where surveillance and efficient monitoring are routinely carried out to avoid any unwanted incidents,” she stated.
She also warned students on bribe for mark and lecturers on indecent harassment of students in any form.
Okoli further disclosed that the school management has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice and indecency in all form and unruly behaviour by students.
