More heavily armed security personnel have been deployed to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano state, as the commission is about to announce the winner of the gubernatorial election.
Security men comprising police, DSS, Army, Civil Defence and officials of the NIA were deployed to the commission today.
The personnel were stationed at strategic places within and outside the headquarters of the electoral commission.
Fresh screening of supportive stakeholders was conducted by security personnel to ensure that only persons with genuine INEC tag gain access to the collation centre.
Security personnel had introduced more screening points right from the main entrance of the headquarters’ structure up to the main collation centre.
Daily Trust observed that the two major political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have deployed more representatives to the commission to witness the declaration of the result.
On the PDP side, people like former Secretary to Kano state government, Dr Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, former House of Representatives member, Alhaji Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini were leading other members of the party at the collation centre.
On the part of APC, it has commissioner for local government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ado Alhassan Doguwa among others.
