The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said it is willing to partner the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in deepening existing relationship in the area of identity management in the country. This was the crux of discussion between the NCC and NIMC when the Federal Capital Territory’s coordinator of the identity management commission, Ndi Awan, paid a familiarization visit to the NCC at its headquarters in Abuja. Ndi Awan, who represented the director-general of NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz, was received on behalf of the NCC’s executive vice chairman, Prof. Umar Danbatta by the commission’s director of projects, Mrs Iyabode Sholanke. The NIMC delegation discussed the challenges faced by NIMC in the fulfillment of its mandate, describing the NCC as “a major partner”. Ndi Awan consequently solicited the support of the commission in the area of network connectivity in some rural areas of the FCT to enhance effective functioning of the NIMC enrolment centres.
