PDP wins lone seat in Yobe Assembly

The Peoples Democratic Party broke the jinx of its rival the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Yobe state, as it won the State House of Assembly seat for Nguru Central.

With this the APC has won 23 out of the 24 House of Assembly seats in the Saturday’s elections.

The party lost the lone seat to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after many years of unsuccessful battle between the parties in the town.

The winner is the biological son of the former state chairman of the PDP who defected to APC a fortnight ago at the presidential villa, Abuja.

The returning officer for the election, Dr. Abacha Mailemi of Federal University of Gashua, declared that Lawan Sani (Mr last) of People’s Democratic Party scored 19,793 to defeat the incumbent member, Hon. Shuaibu Danladi Usman of APC who scored 11,395.

Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state had won all but one elective positions which includes the governorship, three Senatel, six House of Representatives and 23 House of Assembly seats.
