Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged wide spread irregularities in Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in the state.
State chairman of the party, Hassan Felix Hyat, at a press conference in Kaduna, said the party will not accepted any result it considered tampered with and does not reflect the wish of the people.
The PDP chairman said card readers were not used in some local governments while votes at such local governments were collated and are being declared.
He said there were open purchase of votes in Zaria Local Government while there were no elections in many parts of Birnin Gwari but results were announced.
The PDP chairman said PDP strongholds, like Sanga and Kagarko, have been placed under siege by security agencies to pressure the electoral officials into changing results.
He said: “We thank the people of Kaduna for supporting us as they did during the presidential elections. The PDP will not accept trumped up results in any way.”
He urged the people to remain calm and tasked security agents not to take side but remain neutral to discharge their duties, stressing that an election where security agencies took sides could not be adjudged to be free and fair.
