The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Benue state, Nentawe Yilwatda, has confirmed the release of four ad-hoc staff who were earlier held in hostage by alleged political thugs.
Yilwatda said the released staff have been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Earlier on Saturday, the REC told newsmen that election in three councils’ wards of Gboko, Tarka and Gwer West LGAs respectively would be rescheduled because electoral materials were burnt at Mbalom while the commission’s ad-hoc staff were held hostage in the two other council wards.
The REC however did not disclosed when the elections will hold in the areas.
