“The Council urge security agencies to remain neutral and act in accordance with laid down rules and regulations,” the statement added.

According to the Secretary, the Sultanate Council appreciates Islamic clerics and scholars for their sustained prayers for peace, unity and progress of the nation.

The council further urged political parties to restrain their members from any act that will disrupt the electoral process.

It also appealed to the contestants to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, concede defeat and cooperate with the ultimate winners as governors and lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), Sokoto state chapter, has also cautioned politicians against incendiary statements that will heat up the state.

A statement signed by BSO Publicity Secretary, Malam Aminu Faruk on Thursday in Sokoto said unguarded statements could also lead to youth restiveness.(NAN)
