Guber poll: Nobody can force me to alter election result in Sokoto —  REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Sokoto state, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq on Wednesday said he was ready to sacrifice himself for the Saturday Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

He made the disclosure during stakeholders meeting in Sokoto.

Sadiq assured political parties that nobody would force him to alter the result, adding that he preferred to leave the job than to allow anybody to change the result.

“I will resign and I will tell the world why I am resigning. My job here is to do the bidding of the entire people of Sokoto state not a particular individual,” he said

He called on the security agencies to rededicate themselves to the election, saying there were some security challenges recorded in some part of the state during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Resident Commissioner noted that eight people had been arrested for election related offences and that they would be charged to court very soon.
