The Director General of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari will run an all-inclusive government.
Amaechi, who addressed journalists at the headquarters of the campaign council in Abuja, said President Buhari was ready to hit the ground because of his realization that Nigerians had suffered more than enough.
“I think what we should be saying is we are grateful to Nigerians and PDP. Let’s not fight but encourage INEC so that elections will be free and fair. I think we should leave the past. We now have another four years to prove them wrong.
“Not only will he (Buhari) run an all-inclusive government, he is guided by the fact that Nigerians have suffered enough. The president will ensure we run a government that satisfies Nigerians,” he said.
He said since the presidential election was over, it was time to implement the policies and grow the economy, pointing out that the economy could not grow without tackling the security challenges.
Amaechi, who said the re-election of President Buhari by 15.5 million Nigerians who were satisfied with what the APC-led federal government was doing was a referendum.
“But you must be humble in victory. He (Buhari) is calm and quiet. We hope they will see reason. But if they don’t, we also have lawyers who can represent us,” he said when asked about the PDP presidential candidate’s plan to go to court.
He said the support for President Buhari increased in the just concluded election compared to the results of the 2015 presidential election.
He urged the opposition to join the APC government to ensure that Nigerians enjoyed the benefits of good governance, saying “we are conscious of the fact that ‘no victor, no vanquished.”
He chided the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, for saying that no election would hold in 2023, reminding him that it was a constitutional matter to hold election every four years.
On the violence in Rivers State, Amaechi wondered why questions were not being asked regarding the increase in the number of killings under Nyesom Wike-led administration.
The minister of Transportation, who said the APC members were killed at the last elections, stated that he was ashamed for not being able to protect the deceased.
