The Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate for Kogi Central, Barrister Natasha Akpoti, has rejected the outcome of penultimate Saturday’s federal legislative election in her district.
Barr. Akpoti, who addressed journalists in Abuja in company of the State SDP Acting Chairman, Alh. Mouktar Atimah, said the election epitomised everything wrong in Nigeria’s electoral processes.
She said the poll also showcased the inadequacies in the country’s security system which affected democracy, especially as it pertained women in politics.
Akpoti, who expressed readiness to pursue her mandate in court, voiced her belief in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
She expressed confidence that the rule of law shall be applied in defending the people’s mandate at the tribunal.
The candidate, who said she was denied entrance into the state by the police on the eve of the elections, added that it took the efforts of the force headquarters instructing the Okene Area Commander to free her and her personnel.
