Go to court now, South-West PDP tells Atiku

The Southwest chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, asked the party’s leadership to immediately commence the process of challenging the results of last Saturday’s Presidential election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The National Vice-Chairman (Southwest), Dr. Eddy Olafeso declared that the party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar won the election.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos alongside the former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George and other Southwest PDP leaders, Olafeso said the election where President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC was declared the winner was characterized by violence.

Therefore, he stressed that the leadership of the PDP must not rest on its oars in ensuring that justice prevails and the will of the people was respected.

He said: “The party leadership in Southwest thus firmly declares that His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the National Working Committee of the party must immediately commence diligent prosecution of actions to expose the fraudulent elections with a serious view to reclaim the stolen mandate.

“Because in Lagos state, PDP won the Saturday, February 23, 2019, election, no matter how they try to doctor the result, we found that they disfranchised almost 80 percent of those who registered in Lagos.”

Meanwhile, Olafeso condemned the alleged use of thugs to disrupt the elections in some parts of Lagos, saying the PDP would resist attempt to deploy violence in the next round of elections.

He called on the security agencies to live up to expectations by ensuring that hooliganism does not rear its ugly head again.
