Zamfara Assembly Speaker wins Reps Seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, the Speaker, Zamfara House of Assembly, winner of the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency seat.

The Returning Officer, Dr Umar Dakingari, made the announcement in Gusau on Tuesday.

Dakingari said Rikiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 56,798 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate, Kabiru Maipalace, scored 35,533 votes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the speaker scored 32,269 votes and 24,529 votes in Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas respectively.

Meanwhile, the APC candidate for Zamfara Central Senatorial District election, Alhaji Ikira Bilbis, also emerged winner.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Prof. Yahaya Zakari, said Bilbis, a former Minister of Information, scored 94,792 votes while the PDP Candidate, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad, scored 54,859 votes.
