The incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Presidential election in Jigawa State.
The State Collation Officer for Presidential Election (SCOPE) in Jigawa, Prof. Abdullahi Abdul Zuru, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto State, said the APC scored 794,738 to beat other parties including the PDP, which came second with 289,895 votes.
Zuru equally listed valid votes as 1,106,244; rejected votes 43,678; total votes cast 1,149,922; total registered voters 2,104,889; accredited voters 1,171,801 and total votes cancelled as 16,014.
He attributed the cancelled votes to overvoting, pockets of violence, card reader malfunctioning and voters rejecting the card readers.
Speaking at the resumption of the collated results submission at the National collation centre, at the International conference centre (ICC) Abuja, he also listed the performance of all the parties as:
