INEC adhoc staff kidnapped in Katsina

An INEC adhoc staff, an Assistant Presiding Officer, Yazid Abdullahi, has been kidnapped, Daily Trust reports.

Abdullahi was travelling along with three others to his polling unit in Safana local government when the incident happened.

Shedding more lights on the incidence, INEC’s Electoral officer of Safana, Sabi’u Abdulkadir said Abdullahi was heading to Garin Magaji 011 polling unit for the election.

He said when the abductors stopped their car, Abdullahi was singled out and abducted adding that both the sensitive and non-sensitive materials were intact and not taken.

He said the act didn’t affect the conduct of the election in the unit adding that up till now no communication has so far been established with the abductors.

Confirming the incidence, the state commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, said already a suspect has been arrested with regards to the incident and the command has open up investigation on the matter. ‎
