Buhari wins Atiku in Lagos by 132,798 votes

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated his main rival in the Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a margin of 132,798 votes in Lagos State.

After the declaration of the last three remaining local government areas’ results of Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi/Ifelodun and Alimosho by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Buhari overall total votes had reached 580,814 votes while Abubakar secured 448,016 votes.

A further breakdown of the released result showed that whereas Buhari won in 15 out of the 20 recognised local government areas in the State, the PDP candidate came top in five local government areas.

Buhari had similarly won the same number of local governments when he defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general election, however with a higher margin of 160,143 votes.
