APC clinches 1 Senate seat, 7 Reps in Kogi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won one Senate seat and seven federal House of Representatives seats in Kogi state.

The results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicate that the APC senatorial candidate for Kogi Central, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni won.

Announcing the result, INEC Returning Officer for the senatorial district, Professor Patrick Amidu Audu from Federal University Lokoja, disclosed that the APC candidate polled 76,120 votes to beat Social Democratic (SDP) candidate Natasha Akpoti who polled 48,326 votes.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ogembe who is the senator currently representing the people at the red chamber polled 19,359 votes to come third.

The APC is also leading with about 113,000 votes while PDP has about 69,000 votes in the Kogi East senatorial election which was declared inconclusive due to cancellation of election in some polling units on grounds of violence.

In the same vein, APC won the Federal House of Representatives seats for Lokoja/Kogi-KotonKarfe; Ankpa, Olamaboro/Omala; Dekina/Bassa, Idah/Igalamela-Odolu/Ibaji/Ofu, Okene/Ogori-Magongo, Adavi/Okehi and Ajaokuta.
