Mimiko, Alasoadura lose as Akinyelure emerges Ondo Central senator

A former Ondo state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and incumbent senator, Tayo Alasoadura, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have lost the Ondo Central senatorial seat to the candidate of the PDP, Ayo Akinyelure.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared Akinyelure of the PDP as winner of the Ondo Central Senatorial District.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. A.B. Bello said Senator Akinyelure polled 67,994 votes to beat the sitting Senator, Alasoadura of the APC who polled 58,092 votes and the former governor Mimiko of the ZLP who got 56,628 votes.

Meanwhile, Chief Omolafe Adedayo of the PDP also won the seat to the Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency with 48,595 votes to beat the current House of Reps Member, Mr Afe Olowookere of the APC who polled 29,171 votes.
