Top officials of the Delta State government have made arrangements for free bus rides for voters from Abuja and Lagos to participate in today’s election in the state.
The BusesForDemocracy scheme is being sponsored by Delta State SSG Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, DTHA Speaker Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewheri, Principal Secretary to the Governor Hon. Hilary Obi Ibegbulem, Commissioner for Higher Education Hon. Jude Sinebe, Commissioner for Environment Hon. John Nani, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Hon. Peter Mrakpor,
Others are; Special Project Director, Asaba Airport Hon. Ayemidejor Austine, Commissioner for Works Hon. James Aguoye, a former DESOPADEC Commissioner Hon. Ochor Ochor and Ukwuani House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi (DESOPADEC Commissioner) and Fejiro Oliver, Editor in-Chief of SecretReporters News.
In a statement, they said: “We feel your pains and disappointment of the postponed election. We feel the pains of the money you spent coming to Delta State to vote.
“We wear the shoes. We understand your enthusiasm to make your votes count and the willingness to come and vote again. This is why we have decided to provide 15 Delta Line vehicles to bring eligible voters free of charge to Delta State for the election.”
The statement said the gesture did not seek to influence voters’ choice of candidates. Arrangements for the return journey on Sunday will be communicated on Saturday evening, the statement added.
