2019 elections: 72.8m voters to decide Buhari, Atiku, others’ fate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that a total 72,775,502 registered voters have collected their Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) and thus eligible to cast their votes in this year’s general elections.

The chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Thursday at the National Election Collation Centre located at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja, while addressing stakeholders in his fourth briefing.

The PVCs collection ended on February 11 after three extensions to enable Nigerians collected their cards and be eligible to cast their votes out of 84,004,084 total registered voters.

Yakubu also said that the number of uncollected PVCs stood at 11,228,582, adding that 86.63 percent of the total registered voters or the total PVCs produced have been collected.

He said all uncollected PVCs have been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) till after the election when the commission will take custody of it again to make them available to their owners.
