C’River REC denies colluding with political party

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State, Frankland Briyai, has denied colluding or working for any political party in the state as alleged.

He made the denial in Calabar while briefing journalists in his office, saying “It is not true, nobody approached me to work for him.”

“I’ve been accused that I am working for a political party but most of the things that have been published online are just fake news,” he said.

According to him, “Online media have also reported the sighting of printed ballot papers in other parts of the country.  The news is not true, particularly in this state.

“We have moved all our sensitive materials to the different local government areas in the state and when the elections were rescheduled, the same security people who took the materials down to the various local government areas stayed with them and eventually brought them back the Central Bank of Nigeria, so these things are not true.”
