PDC suspects sabotage in postponing elections

The chairman of People Democratic Change PDC, Anambra state, Prince Isaac Onuka has expressed shock at the postponement of the general elections, stating that it’s party suspected sabotage from either inside or outside the agency.

Onuka, who is the chairman of Anambra state Inter-party Party Advisory  Council IPAC, spoke to Daily Trust on Saturday and said it was a national disgrace for the independent national electoral Commission, INEC to decide to postpone the election at the 11th hour.

“We want to believe that there are some influence to this postponement, those people who want to manipulate the electoral process to their favour. We suspect either internal or external sabotage,” he said.

According to him, INEC had assured Nigerians severally that it was ready and prepared to conduct free, fair and credible election even at sixth hour to the elections. INEC had been preparing for this election for three years

“It has no reason to postpone the election given the huge financial and human support to the agency.”

By Saturday night, some of the materials for elections were not available in Anambra and we thought it was peculiar to the state because of burning of some sensitive materials, but with the development, it is clear now that it was a national issue and it is a big shame to INEC,” he said

According to him, in Anambra, they had wanted to call for the postponement of the elections in the state because of adequate preparation.

“The tags for party agents in the state were grossly inadequate, some parties were given 200, some 70 and 50. And the reason they gave was the materials were not enough to go round. NEC was properly funded for this election and they have disappointed the nation,” he stated.
