JAMB board expresses concern over low turnout, extortion in Abia

The Chairman, Governing Board of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe has expressed concern over low turnout, extortion of candidates at registration centers in Abia State.

Dr Ndukwe, who made the assertion in Aba and Umuahia today while inspecting some designated Computer Based Test (CBT) centers, warned that the board would not extend its closing dateline of February, 2019.

He said: “We are monitoring the CBT centres if they are complying with JAMB directives or not, especially the price of registration, and also find out their challenges and ways in which we can also improve in service delivery”

“It’s very sad that we have established cases of extortion of candidates, we took CBT centres unaware, we will institute more investigations. The owner of the centers claimed ignorance of what we found out as we conducted random sampling of candidates who were on ground at the registration centres ”

“I want to state categorically that the board will not give any extension after the expiration dateline. So, I am calling on all JAMB candidates, Direct Entry (DE), United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and foreign students to come forward and register for the exam. We have started registration and it’s ongoing.”
