The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, have called on people of Bauchi state to vote for the party in the forthcoming general elections.
They made the call in their separate remarks at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Bauchi on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Atiku called on people of the state not to be deceived by the antics of the ruling APC.
According to him, the ruling APC is only making a last deception as its successful projects among many others were initiated by the PDP, saying the APC is only banking on people’s gullibility to deceive them.
“You voted for the APC three and a half years ago. What have they done to you? It’s only hunger and poverty. They are coming to lie to you again. The oil well was dug by the PDP in Bauchi state; the APC claimed to have started drilling for oil. It is all lies and deception,” he said.
He therefore called on people of Bauchi state to vote for the party at all levels in the forthcoming elections.
In his address, Secondus said that by the large turnout witnessed at the event, the APC cannot rig elections in Bauchi state.
“If you come to rig the elections, we know that you cannot rig in Bauchi. When you vote, you stand there and defend your votes. And when you vote us for the president, you will vote for competency, you will vote for capacity and you will vote for food on your table and resuscitation of security and massive employment,” he said.
Also speaking, Dogara alleged that some people never thought that, there will be a day when someone from the Northeast will contest for presidency.
“They thought we don’t have anybody. We are not rooting for Atiku just because he is from the Northeast! But because he is the person that will rid the region of Boko Haram, insecurity, poverty and other challenges. Any person who did not vote for him, what will we call that person? ”
Dogara described Atiku as a good resource manager who will revive the nation’s economy as anything placed in his hands grows and flourish.
The Speaker called on people of the state to vote for Senator Bala Mohammed as governor as well as all other candidates of the party at all levels.
On his part, the state PDP governorship candidate promised to tackle the challenges facing the state head on.
He noted that the APC administration only brought widespread infrastructural decay, institutional collapse and poverty since coming into power.
