Amaraizu said their arrest by the police operatives who acted swiftly became possible following intelligence information gathered about the syndicate.

He added that since the arrest, the suspects had revealed how they carried out abduction of a four-year-old school boy identified as one Ugwu Levi Chiagozie from another Nusery/Primary school also located at Imilike Ani in Udenu local government area of Enugu state on January 18, after which they handed over their victim to a certain nurse in Anambra state for sale.

He said that items recovered from the suspects included little children’s wears, biscuits, chin-chin, candies and other items which allegedly could be used to entice little children.

Amaraizu further said the suspects are currently helping the police operatives of the command in their investigations which have commenced in full scale.

However, the state police has advised members of the public, particularly parents/guardians, to always exercise vigilance and be security conscious on their children/wards to “avoid falling into the antics of these mischief-makers who are in the habit of enticing children from churches and gatherings with a view to abducting/stealing them.”
