Bendel Insurance of Benin yesterday secured their first win of the season against Lobi Stars of Makurdi in Match Day 6 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Benin Arsenal, who just returned to top flight football had prior to this game drew three games and lost one, though they have one outstanding game.
The home side were all over last year’s champions, with the target to win the game at all cost, and eventually unlocked the defence of their guests in the 68th minute through Charles Omokaro.
The goal seemed to spur Lobi Stars, who made several attempts to find their way back in to the game without response.
Following this victory, Bendel Insurance have climbed to the 7th position on Group A while Lobi Stars are rooted on the 11th position having played three games so far due to their participation in continental football.
