Man remanded over N40m fraud

A Magistrate court sitting at No Man’s Land, Kano, has remanded a
a middle-aged man, Sulaiman Abdullahi for allegedly defrauding his host the sum of N40m.
The Prosecution Officer, Inspector Nura Mukhtar informed the court that one Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim of Yankaba reported that sometimes in 2012, the accused, a resident of Hotoro quarters and three others now at large, conspired and collected N40m from the complainant with pretext to invest in foreign exchange business.
The court further heard that the suspects subsequently converted the money into their own personal use.
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating which violated  Sections 97, 312 and 322 of Penal Code law.
The presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Sanusi Usman Atana, ordered that the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to 13th February, 2019.
