The National Security Adviser (NSA) Mohammed Monguno has warned politicians against arming bandits and terrorists to scuttle the 2019 elections.
Monguno gave this warning before going into a closed door meeting with the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and the acting Inspector General of Police, holding now in Abuja.
He said security reports available to him indicated that certain politicians were arming bandits and terrorists with plans to plunge the country into crisis over failed election ambition.
Although, he did not mention names, he warned against any act that could destabilize the country.
He noted that the government was working through the inter-agency committee to ensure security during the elections.
The governors and the NSA promised to brief pressmen waiting at the NGF office in Abuja, after the meeting.
