Ahead of the governorship elections, Nigerian traders, under the auspices of the National Association of Nigeria Traders (NANTs) and farmers have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with political parties in Imo State to ensure good governance when a new government comes into power in the state.
Signing the MoU during a town hall meeting, organized by the traders and Farmers in Owerri, the group described themselves as the people who bear the major brunt of bad leadership.
As a result, they resolve to get the governorship candidates of the political parties in the state to sign a pact with them that they would fulfill all their promises to the people, majority of whom are traders and farmers.
Speaking during the occasion, the Chairman, Mr Okoko David, said that the leadership of the associations resolved to sign the pact with candidates of political parties so that any of them in power would partner with them for delivery of democracy dividends and good governance
He lamented that despite their enormous contribution to vote candidates to victory at every election, they had been shabbily treated by successive government.
