Markets and schools were on Wednesday shut in Birnin Kebbi for the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari during the  flag off of his presidential campaign in Kebbi state.

Alhaji Sani Dododo, chairman of the presidential campaign committee of Buhari /Osinbajo and Bagudu /Yombe campaign organisation in Kebbi State had yesterday urged Kebbi residents to troop out in large number to welcome the president.

He said Buhari because of what he has done for the state deserved to be given a befitting welcome and reception.

On Wednesday, pupils and students of the state public and private schools lined up the major roads in Birnin Kebbi to welcome the president.

Ahmadu Bello Way which leads to the stadium, venue of the presidential campaign, was busy with people trekking from different areas of the town to welcome the president where he addressed the party supporters at Alieru Abdul stadium.

Our correspondent report that all schools, markets and food vendor locations in the town were temporarily shut for Buhari’s visit.

A resident of Birnin Kebbi who spoke to Daily Trust said Buhari has done much for Kebbi and he deserves the reception they accorded him.

He said “Buhari is important to us in Kebbi. What we are benefiting today in rice and other agricultural produce was his administration’s initiatives.”
