Rurum said: “If credible candidates with integrity are elected, not necessary from our great party the APC, or any other political platform, more developmental projects will be initiated and executed in the state.”

He commended the committee for its vision at building the path of peace towards smooth conduct of the 2019 general elections, urging candidates to abide by the tenets of the committee as they are the major beneficiaries of successful elections.

“There was no record of any form of violence in the state in the 2015 general elections. With the caliber of members of this committee, I have confidence that there will be no violence during the forthcoming elections because they are well respected by the public”, the speaker said.

He, therefore, assured the committee of the Assembly’s support and commitment to ensure violence-free election through collaboration with all other stakeholders including the candidates and security agencies.

The committee further appealed to the speaker to collaborate with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to tame the use of vulgar language on local radio stations in the state by the politicians and their supporters against their opponents.
