Electoral materials: Transporters lament delayed MoU with INEC

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), has expressed dismay over the delayed signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between it and the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for the movement of logistics on the forthcoming general election.

In a press release by the Special Adviser on Media to the Executive President, Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo, Ben Ogbemudia said with the fact that Ministry of Labour and Productivity and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) has also written to the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, in identifying the current headship of RTEAN said they are surprised for the delay in signing the MOU bearing in mind that the election is fast approaching.

Ben Ogbemudia said despite that some close Aides of INEC chairman confirmed receipt of the letter of the minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngegi wondered what is happening within the INEC Management staffs in delaying the signing as their sisters Union has already signed theirs long ago.

Benson Upah, Head of Administration, Nigeria Labour Congress also confirmed Osakpamwan Eriyo leadership of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.

“We want to say that the leadership of RTEAN in Nigeria is not in doubt, if you come to our National Headquarters in 4B Arusha Crescent, Zone one Wuse, you will see Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo and his Executives in office. What else do you need to proof who is authentic or not. If there is another person they INEC know, they should tell us. So, we are waiting patiently for them to call us to do the needful.”
