The Emir of Lafia emirate in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I, who died Thursday at the age of 84 in Abuja, was buried in his family house in Kofar Kaura yesterday.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lafia, Sheikh Dalhatu Dahiru Aliyu by 3 pm after the Juma’at prayer amidst thousands of people from across the country.
Dignitaries at the funeral prayer included Nasarawa State Governor Alhaji Tanko Almakura and his Imo and Plateau counterparts Rochas Okorocha and Simon Lalong respectively, the emirs of Keffi, Argungu, Fika, Ayi Abagantoni, Doma, Etsu Nupe, Nasarawa, the Long Gomai of Shendam in Plateau State, Lt. General TY Danjuma (rtd), a former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and a former Minister of the FCT, Bala Muhammad, among others. The late emir was crowned in 1974 and was the longest serving in the history of the emirate.
