The police, this morning, gave details of how Justice Mamman Nasir, the Galadiman Katsina and district Head of Malumfashi escaped a kidnap attempt.
The spokesman of the Police in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah said if not for the quick and timely intervention of policemen, the former Justice of the federation would have been whisked away by the kidnappers.
According to him, around 9pm last night, about 30 armed bandits blocked the Gora – Dayi road, few kilometres away from one of its check points.
He said: “The justice was travelling along with his driver and Personal aide from Katsina to his home in Malumfashi, before they got into the trap.
“The police were alerted and rushed to the scene and engaged the bandits in a shot out, which led to the foiled kidnapped attempt on the justice,” he said.
“They had already stopped his car, opened it up and brought out his driver, robbing him and later reached out to his Personal aide, one Aminu Lawal, whom they took away during the exchange of fire,” he added.
Isah said the driver was also rescued.
