A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, AVM Hamza Abdullahi (rtd), died yesterday at 73.
Abdullahi, former military governor of Kano, died in Germany after a brief illness.
His cousin, Kawu Yaro, said he took ill while performing umrah (lesser Hajj) and was flown to a German hospital where he died.
His funeral would hold at the palace of the Emir of Hadejia in Jigawa State, according to the spokesperson of the emirate, Mohammed Garba Talaki.
Talaki said Abdullahi’s corpse was expected in Nigeria as soon as all formalities were completed.
The emirate said his death had created a vacuum as he was one of its illustrious sons.
The emirate prayed for a repose of his soul; and a fortitude for his immediate family to bear the irreparable loss.
The deceased is survived by three wives and 17 children.
