The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Magaji Musa Majia, who disclosed this while reviewing the crime profile recorded in the command last year in relations to what was obtained previous year (2017), attributed the feat to the support and collaborative efforts between the police, sister security agencies and the public.

He said a total of 337 major crime cases including kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, rape and car snatching were reported to the command and no less than 541 suspects to the respective crimes have been arrested some of whom have been charged to court.

Majia said “the year 2018 witnessed low crime rate when compared with previous years. In the year under review a total of 337 major crimes were reported including 22 cases of armed robbery, 21 cases of kidnapping, 105 cases of rape, 168 cases of homicide as well as 34 cases of car snatching among others.”

He further revealed that 2487 members of Yandaba were arrested last year from whom 83 different rifles both foreign and locally made were recovered along with 269 different caliber of ammunition and cartridges.

Comparing the current rate of crime with what obtained in 2017, Majia said the rate of kidnapping in the state has reduced by half to the cases recorded in 2017.

According to Majia, the command recorded 22 cases of armed robbery in 2018 against 35 cases recorded in 2017, disclosing that three of the suspected armed robbers were killed in separate encounters with the police while attempting to arrest them.
