Security guard risks 7 years in jail over ATM card theft

A 26-year-old security guard, Daniel Akinlalure, who was alleged to have stolen his employer’s ATM card, was yesterday brought before an Ikeja, Lagos, magistrate court.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that Akinlalure stole an ATM card, property of one Mr Victor Adepoju, and withdrew from the latter’s account a sum of N100,000.

Nomayo said that the accused committed the offence on November 26, 2018 at about 9.40am at No. 23, Church St., Salvation Road, Opebi, Lagos.

He added that the accused had an extra key to the complainant’s residence, which facilitated the theft.

“The accused made the withdrawal from UBA and Access banks’ ATM machines.  The complainant suspected the accused to have carried out the hideous act, and alerted the police,” the prosecutor said.

Akinlalure, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him

The magistrate, Mrs T. A. Ojo, granted him a N100,000 bail, with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till January 29, 2019 for mention.
