The board of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has commended developments at the Centenary City Free Trade Zone (CCFTZ) in Abuja, saying the city can make Nigeria attain its dream if well handled.
The chairman of the NEPZA Board and former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, who led the board members to the Centenary Economic City site, said all over the world, that is how new cities are developed and such cities usually open the economic prosperity of the host countries.
He commended the originators and management of the CCFTZ, urging them to fast tract the development of the city for the country to benefit from the massive investments that it will attract.
He told the CCFTZ management that integration of local content from the beginning of the project will help develop many small scale industries, urging that a lot of planning and collaborations are needed between the project owners, entrepreneurs and government agencies to help in local material supply and development.
According to him, the massive supply of local building materials such as steel, marvels, aluminium among others will open up opportunities for such industries to grow.
In his presentation, the Development Manager, Engr Oluyinka Adebimpe, said the city was designed to be like a prominent city such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Singapore and to accommodate residential, business, tourism and entertainment centres.
