Abductors of the Benue State Chairman of National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Chief Sylvester Kanu and his Secretary, Sunday Noaba, have demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened around Aro-Ndizogu community in Imo state on Monday while the two were travelling to Port Harcourt in Rivers state for a NARTO meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
Family sources who do not want their names on print told newsmen in Makurdi on Thursday that the two men were abducted while about to stopover at Kanu’s home town in Imo state before proceeding on their journey to Port Harcourt.
It was learnt that a red Pathfinder vehicle had blocked the car in which the duo were travelling in as they negotiated their way to the NARTO chairman’s home when some gunmen stormed out of the vehicle and shot sporadically into the air before dragging their victims out of their car into the waiting Pathfinder car and zoomed off.
The family sources however disclosed that the abductors have demanded N50 million for the release of their victims.
However, Benue State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, told journalists in Makurdi that he was not aware of the incident.
