Yobe okays N8.7bn for roads, drainages

The Yobe State Executive Council has approved N8,701,157,489.40 for the execution of road and drainage projects across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Mala Musti, said this after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Wednesday. He said after the installation of 330KVA sub-station, the government had approved N178,327,909.20 for the construction of 2 kilometre road to link the substation to the township road; while N474,029,415.56 was approved for the construction of 2.4 kilometre road and 4.8 kilometre concrete drainage at Anguwar Karo in Damaturu.

The government also approved the construction of 2.8 kilometre road at Abari ward, N360,111,576.00; and 5.6 concrete drainage at Ali Marami Housing Estate, Damaturu, N560,909,854.30.

Also approved were 3.3km road and 6.6 concrete drainage at Njiwaji and construction of 5.7km road and concrete drainage at Don Eteibet Housing Estate for N749,903,952.50 and N1,060,536,098.93 respectively.

The government also approved the construction of a 25.5km dual carriage road from Damaturu to Kallawa town for N4,999,905,407.38 to link the International Cargo Airport with the state capital.
