Police didn’t lay siege to House of Assembly – CP

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo has said the police did not lay siege to the state House of Assembly, but restored normalcy to the complex.

Kimo said the deployment of personnel 500 metres away from the assembly and screening of persons entering the complex was to make sure hoodlums did not interfere with the proceedings of the house.

In a statement by the Police spokesman, DSP Odiko Macdon, yesterday in Uyo, the CP said the explanation was necessary to clarify misrepresentations.

Macdon noted that if not for police intervention, the assembly complex would have been burnt or vandalized.
