The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) on Tuesday launched the revitalization campaign of School’s Anti-corruption Clubs (SACs) in both private and public schools in Kano state.
Speaking during the ceremony held at Rumfa College, ICPC acting Chairman Dr. Musa Usman Abubakar, said the commission has resolved to revitalise the clubs because of the vital role youths plays in any nation’s development as critical key players.
According to him, the commission has discovered that taking the fight to the grassroots will ease the commission’s mandate of reducing corruption in the country.
He added that the revitalization of SACs has marked the beginning of a robust relationship with the commission.
Represented by Kano ICPC’s head of investigation, Malam Abubakar Jibrin, the acting chairman further said the commission had also organised an essay competition on anti-corruption to broaden the student’s understanding of anti-corruption for a brighter generation.
Earlier in his address, the Executive Secretary Kano Senior Secondary School Management Board (KSSMB), Ussaini Umar Ganduje, represented by Zakariyya Balarabe Abdullahi said the move to revive the clubs is indeed a welcome development.
He noted that the board will continue to support the move saying it will also ensure that all secondary schools in the state have such clubs revived.
