Hoodlums attack houses in Ibadan as residents flee

Over 100 houses in Ekerin layout, behind Abe Technical College, New Garage on Akala expressway in Oluyole local government area of Ibadan were attacked on Thursday.

Witnesses told Daily Trust that the hoodlums arrived the area in about 12 vans around 11am on Thursday wielding guns, armed with padlocks, chains, red paint with which they mark ‘x’ on many houses in the area.

One of the witnesses who identified himself as Saheed said many people fled for their dear lives while many people were locked up in their house with their big chains.

In one of the documents pasted on the wall around the area which indicated that an Oyo state High Court issued judgement on October 31st, 2018 with suit number 1/567/84, also indicated that the matter was instituted by Alhaji Emiola Amusa Adeleke against Bayo Asani and others.

Among the affected business ventures were a private school named George and Duke located on the expressway, BJ food, ADETS OIL filling station, JAYPEE Lounge, RHEMA Church, Fit Price Restaurant, Mahendra Drilling, DSTV office, JFK inn & over 100 residential buildings in the area.

The chairman of the community, Alhaji Lamina Adedoyin Ajimotokan, who said he started living in the area since 1982 told journalists that the residents were never aware of any litigation of their property.

According to Ajimotokan, who said between 66/67 inhabitants were under him, queried the legality of such court order which was never brought to their notice.

Ajimotokan, who was equally locked in with his family members, decried the unfortunate development, and condemned the attitude of men of the Nigeria Police Force who turned blind eyes to the incident.

Ajimotokan said the lands were mostly sold to them in Ekerin layout by the Ekerin family, who had initially bought same from Olugbesan.
