Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has asked the African Independent Television (AIT) to retract a picture reportedly shown on the television regarding his purported meeting with the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) and the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi at his Ota farm in Ogun state.
A picture said to have been shown on the station’s social media segment, Kaakaki Social, where a tweeter account “belonging” to the former President, showed the trio pictured “during a meeting at his Ota Farm.”
Obasanjo in a statement made available to Daily Trust on Thursday in Abeokuta by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi also demanded that a similar apology be extended to the Vice President for the “embarrassment the development might have caused him.”
The former President expressed disappointment on the station’s failure to verify the “fake Twitter Account” before airing it on the station.
“It is a fact that severally, the former President has dissociated himself from owning any social media account. Therefore, it is highly disappointing that such sensitive Twitter post would be allowed to go on air without verification by the African Independent Television (AIT),” the statement said.
The former President, who is presently in Sokoto for the Zero Hunger project subsequently demanded retraction and apology from the station.
