The returned Chairman, Plateau state Chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Committee, (IPAC), Letep Dabang has said the body had rancour-free annual election because all the contestants and the voters were responsible people who had the love of the state in their hearts.
Dabang who is also Chairman, Plateau state Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) made the statement in an interview with newsmen in Jos on Monday.
He said, “The reports we have gotten indicated that the IPAC elections in some states weren’t peaceful. The election was peaceful in Plateau state, because all the contestants are responsible chairmen party.
“And we must be seen to be acting on discipline manner to encourage our followers in what we are doing, so as to encourage democracy.” He said.
Dabang who would stir the affairs of the body for the next one year reiterated that he would work round the clock to ensure stronger political parties in the state.
“My plans were designed towards building stronger IPAC, I would ensure unity and purpose within the political parties and deepening of democracy on the Plateau,” he said.
It recalled that Dabang returned as the Chairman of Plateau IPAC during an annual election of the body held at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jos during the weekend.
Dabang also called on the political parties in the state to shun politics of bitterness and engage on constructive criticism in order to ensure good governance.
The election saw delegates from 59 registered parties that elected their choice candidates among those who presented themselves for positions in the executive committee of IPAC.
During the election, the Chairman of KOWA party, Ochai Salihu and Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dogara Abubakar were elected as Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the body respectively, while, Mr Ali Ali of People for Democratic Change (PDC) was elected as the Publicity Secretary.
IPAC is the umbrella body of registered political parties in Nigeria.
