The Police in Gombe on Friday say it has recovered six stolen vehicles from a car dealer who was alleged to have specialize in receiving and selling stolen vehicles.
Addressing newsmen at the command’s headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Garba Mukaddas, said the suspect, Sani Adamu, 38 Alias Dankade of Bye Pass, Abacha quarters, Gombe, was arrested through a synergy with other security agencies in the state.
He said a Toyota Matrix stolen in Abuja sometimes in June, 2018 was traced to Dankade, which led to his arrest by the police.
According to the police, the stolen car was found in possession of one Murtala Adamu of Hammadu Kafi quarters, who informed police that he purchased the car from the said Dankade.
Mukaddas said in the course of investigation, another stolen vehicle was intercepted and recovered by police surveillance team from the same Dankade.
The police added that in the last two months, over four cars stolen from different parts of the country were recovered from the same Dankade, who allegedly belong to a syndicate of car thieves.
The police commissioner said four of the vehicles were released to their rightful owners, adding that the suspect has confessed to the crime and will be charge to court for prosecution.
