The Government of Edo State has appointed Chief Lawson A. Omokhodion as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, located in Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
The reconstituted governing council is made up of 20 members among who eight, including the chairman, were directly appointed by the Gov. Godwin Obaseki.
Omokhodion will lead the 20-member council for a four-year period.
While inaugurating the reconstituted council recently, Obaseki, charged members to return AAU to the glorious days as a premier academic institution.
He urged members of the AAU community to retool themselves and project AAU as a citadel of academic excellence.
The governor noted that he had appointed a non-political council made up of credible, tested and experienced professionals, saying he was optimistic that AAU would excel under the council.
Omokhodion thanked the governor for the appointment and promised that the Council will operate wholly within the Law establishing the University and will be diligent, fair and firm in the discharge of its duties.
Omokhodion, a renowned financial journalist and Economic Editor, was an Adviser at the African Development Bank (ADB) and former Managing Director/CEO of Liberty Bank Plc.
