Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have allegedly burnt down another village in the southern part of Borno state, as more than a dozen persons were declared missing after the incident, vigilante sources said.
The incident occurred when the insurgents stormed a remote village of Kala near Damboa on Tuesday night around 9pm, shooting sporadically as many were hit by gunshots.
They looted and cart away food stuffs before razing down the village, as residents fled into bushes for safety, the sources claimed.
“We are helpless; our village is just 2km away from Damboa town. Boko Haram came, stolen our livestock, cows, goats and bicycles,” he said.
A security source however dismissed the claim, saying troops fired two artillery guns towards the area to disperse the invaders.
